Our most recent Reserve Lot release features a range of complex fruit-driven coffees. To keep with that theme, we decided to pull this fruit-forward anaerobic natural laurina variety selection from our archive for this month’s Freezer Friday.

Laurina, also sometimes called bourbon-pointu, is a naturally occurring mutation of the bourbon variety that’s known for it’s distinct plant morphology and considerably lower caffeine content comapred to many other arabica varieties.

A truly dynamic expression of these unique plant genetics, the fragrance and aroma of this coffee is layered with vibrant qualities of tart cherry, starfruit, and marzipan. In the cup, flavors of tangy pineapple and sweet spices are accompanied by a sparkling white-grape quality and an intriguing confectionary sweetness akin to taffy or red licorice that carries through the finish.
