With our green buying team preparing to visit our Foundational Partners in Cusco later this month, we’re excited to share a Cup of Excellence (COE) winner from the Cajamarca region as this month’s Archival Release. This organically produced Caturra from producer Filadelpo Mejia was awarded 6th place in the 2017 Peru COE, which was the first year that the COE competition was held in the country. Roasting and tasting this lot again after almost a decade of careful preservation, we’re reminded of what an incredible opportunity it was to be able to purchase this award-winning coffee all those years ago. Opening with vibrant red and tropical fruit aromatics, we find a deep sweetness in the cup characterized by a delightful milk chocolate and cooked fruit character as it cools.
